The compliance system in an organization considers also the way in which a water utility is audited; this can be externally or internally. With regard to WI, it is important to assess: Are there compliance mechanism in place, e.g. a risk avoidance system or anti-corruption system?

Compliance elements are:

  1. Compliance culture and aims;
  2. Compliance risk;
  3. Compliance organisation;
  4. Compliance program;
  5. Compliance communication;
  6. Compliance monitoring.

Water Integrity also makes references to work ethics and the code of conduct. The section «Library & Links» displays the Code of Conduct for GIZ.

The Water Impact Guidebook explains the principles of Ethics (Module C: Human Behavior, Chapter 26).
